Why The Guadalupe Bridge Is Pretty Memorable To Me

For the past two years, I would make a mad rush over at the Guadalupe bridge, every 6:30 am to catch our bus shuttle going to the office. It was a love-hate relationship. Some mornings I stroll by it with much gusto. I love the feel of the morning sun in my skin, and somehow, I still get to catch that refreshing chill in the air before it disappears in the EDSA smog. These are the "thank-God-its-a-good-day"-kind of days.

super love the morning sun
Other times though, like when I wake up 10 minutes late, I'd be running  like my life depended on it and I'd be cursing the damn bridge because it was way too long and the shuttle can't stop in the middle to pick me up. Believe me, nothing could ruin a morning better than being left by the office shuttle. Especially when you were so close.

Review: Ang Nawalang Kapatid - Finding Your Darma

Update: Proving just how AWESOME this show has been, Ang Nawalang Kapatid is having a re-run! They'll be staging benefit shows from July 4-6 and 11-13, Friday to Sunday only. Screening times will be 7pm for Friday and 3pm/8pm for Saturday and Sunday. You can get the tickets for only php500 but of course there's a discount if you're a UP student. If you missed the retelling of this Mahabharata classic, now is your chance!

I actually just bought a ticket for my sis Unai yesterday. Heheh. So go catch it! You can also read below for your review :) :)

To cap off a long series of Valentine dates, me and Ray took time off from our schedules to watch Dulaang UP's "Ang Nawalang Kapatid". It was my first time to step back into Wilfrido Ma. Guerrero theater ever since I finished my undergrad course, and it was Ray's second time to watch a full theater production and so we were very excited.

Time truly changes perspectives, I used to wonder how a theater like Wilfrido Ma. Guerrero could fit into the AS building (Palma Hall) because it seemed so huge back then. But now, more than 5 years after, and after also being able to watch stage plays in other venues, I realized that it's actually quite a small place. But the love from the UP crowd always makes it a great place to be in, and is enough to house one of the country's top collegiate theater houses- Dulaang UP.

Wilfrido Ma. Guerrero theater was packed!

"Ang Nawalang Kapatid" is a very fitting way to close DUP's 38th theater season. The group just went all out in the production, routines, scoring (more lively because of the live band), cast, props, and even in promotion. It was a grand spectacle to behold! Sadly we weren't take alot of photos because it was obviously forbidden inside the theater.

Lea Salonga sings "Blurred Lines"

Wow. Just wow. Can it get any better than this? I love the seduction in every word! A summer song just got jazzed up and it was flaming hot and sexy!

I watched parts of the concert last night, who didn't melt when Aga Muhlach took the stage?Haha! And my roommate was like "loveteam sila dati ate?". Geez are we that old?

Thank you, Ms. Lea Salonga. I think every singer in that concert got schooled. Lol. There's something very distinct in the clarity of her tone and the way she just gives out her heart and soul with every performance. I see that she really is very expressive with her music because she got alot of flak for being so-called 'over-acting', back when The Voice Ph was still airing. But this same intensity is also what makes her really amazing when she sings. And in spite of hailing from a country saturated with a lot of hella-good singers, Lea Salonga is still able to stand out. After all these years.

She's like a bird. When she sings your heart can't help but fly. Oh no one compares. :)

MemoryLane Tagaytay - The Real Throwback

Memorylane is a themed restaurant in Tagaytay that takes you back to the 50's and 60's the moment you step on the lawn. It's a big and cozy house that's a gift shop, a massage salon, and a restaurant inside. They're much famed for their big breakfasts, Baby Back Ribs, Sinigang na Lechon, and Bulalo.

We were super super excited to have a taste of their breakfast however we got there past 11am, and they were apparently very strict that no breakfast meals should be served beyond the 9-11 am schedule and so no matter the pleading (and pa-cute and pa-beautiful-eyes lol) we still got heartbroken huhu. Lesson to future visitors!

The lunch didn't disappoint though. The sinigang was our common favorite!

Great place for reunions! I missed the gang!

Lovely Dancing With Lovely BellyDances

Don't you just love dancers? Such grace and energy I only wish I could dance half as good. I can probably carry out a step or two but I'm a little too stiff for it hahah!

So we didn't know what to expect when we were invited by my former boss to visit the dance studio of her sister over at Imus, Cavite. My former boss is quite a good dancer too (I guess it runs in the blood) and she just kept raving at us how fun it was to have dance classes every weekends, so we eventually gave it a try. I didn't realize that we'd actually have alot of fun!

lovely bellydances

Lovely Belly Dances conducts Bellydance, Zumba (with licensed instructors),and Yoga classes. It's a cozy studio, the size of a classroom, with a huge dance mirror and it's own restroom. There's a very comfortable feel to it. We got to attend one of the Belly dance classes and it was cool to see women from ages 25-50 fixing each others costumes and make up. They were about to perform some of their pieces that day. These are housewives, career women, and single ladies who have seemed to have formed a bond of sisterhood as they prepared for their performance, and I guess this is one of the first few things you really enjoy when you attend regular sessions like this. Beyond dancing, you get to share experiences as a mother, a wife, or simply as a woman, to fellow sisters like you.
