Aamin na Ako: Gayuma ni Maria

Me and Ray celebrated our 3rd year anniversary last September 24. It was a celebration of three years of love, and a countdown to the awesome things to come. Once again, Ray has managed to surprise me  in spite of his busy schedule, and headed over to UP to meet me up right after our lab meeting. It was special in a lot of ways but I'd rather not elaborate that here because I got too cheesy on Facebook already hahah!

When we were discussing where we wanted to have our anniversary dinner, I knew right away that we had to try Gayuma Ni Maria because it's one of the more famous dining places near Maginhawa, and is said to be perfect for celebrations such as ours. Well, Ray has long since accused me of using 'gayuma' on him so might as well live up to that! Hahah! So off we went and boy we sure enjoyed ourselves!

Right from the porch, Gayuma ni Maria already made an impression as a spotlight suddenly lit up right after we hit the steps. We checked out with other guests and it looks like they've got a sensor installed over there. Nuks paandar!

Haha mai-push lang ang pangalan ko! :p

You could tell that real effort was made to ensure that people had a great dining experience. They start off with showing us a wooden-framed menu with a list of appetizers (and aphrodisiacs!), plus things to do while waiting for our order.

Ray was super amused with the whole place and he couldn't stop taking photos! I have to mention though that the place has pretty dim lighting, I guess it's supposed to add to the romantic (or maybe even seductive) feel of the place but I guess it's a matter of preference. I'd prefer a brighter room. But anyway that explains why most of the photos here are really blurry heheh!

Aamin na ako..ginayuma ko po talaga sya gamit ang aking mabuting kalooban. wahaha!

Gayuma ni Maria doesn't just invite you to seduce, it even has the 'after party' all covered. Hahah! They've got this corner where they sell random umm.. *ehem* toys and accessories, hahah! They even got a legit kamasutra book for inside reading. It doesn't look like porn because all images are painted or sketched illustrations, and are actually visually appealing.

The naughty nook :)

Even the menu lived up to the theme, with dishes named 'Nilasing ni Eba si Adan', 'Kiss Sabay Hug', 'Basta Pinoy Sweet Lover', 'Saging Lang ang May Puso', 'Unrequited Love', and 'No Boyfriend Since Birth'. The menu alone is funny and intriguing!

With a place themed like theirs, one would think that their selling point would mainly be the 'gimmick', but what pleasantly surprised us more was the efficient service and great food. Our orders were ready within just 5-10 minutes, with huge servings and were really delicious!

I had the 'Afternoon Delight' pasta and quickly moaned that I won't be able to finish my serving because it was too huge. Buuuut before I knew it my plate was already empty hahah. It tasted just right, not too oily and not too spicy.

Ray had the Rock me Rock BBQ Pork Ribs and he loved it too. Hmm I think I'd rate it in the same level as Kenny Roger's BBQ Ribs.

Even the way they served rice was naughty. Meheh!

The bathroom was hmm.. Wayyy too pink it felt unsettling. Hahah!

They also have a sort of function room upstairs for meetings and the like. I think this would be great for small group performances, meetings, and book readings.

Prices range from 200-300 per person and it's super sulit because of the generous servings.  They've also got yummy cakes for dessert, we tried the 'Beats sex anytime' chocolate cake and we loved it!

Pro's:
 - Quick serving time
 - Nice and efficient staff dressed in Filipiniana
 - Great and affordable food
 - Generous serving size
 - Creative themed experience

Con's:
 - I would have preferred better lighting
 - Ray said the music sounded like an AM station hahah
 - (not exactly a con but) don't bring overly conservative dates here! Hahah!

We obviously enjoyed our anniversary dinner. We loved the food and got to chat about a whole lot of things. I highly recommend this especially to our friends down south who have been clamoring to visit Maginhawa and nearby areas for the food. It's located at 123, V.Luna Road Ext, Sikatuna Village Diliman Quezon City.

Do pay a visit baka may magayuma din kayo! :P
