La Virginia Resort - A Summerrific Treat

Here comes the sun dudumdudum... (that beloved Beatle's song)

And that means it's time for some water lovin'! You're probably now scouring the internet for summer outing ideas for the family or your officemates. We got to visit La Virginia at Batangas and we'll tell you why it's like the 'SM' of resorts.

The La Virginia resort is an 8 hectare - yes 8 hectares it's damn huge - sprawling complex comprised of various theme parks each having a pool of it's own, 15 themed accomodations for all budget ranges, fun activities for the whole family, and a breath taking view as it is nestled on top of a large mountain facing the Taal Lake. And it's only 2 hours from Manila!

PS: Do click the photos below for a better look :)

It's so huge I don't even know where to start. But you know you're in for a treat when you get a view like this:

And a breakfast like this:

This is the liiiife!

The owner seemed to pull all stops to ensure that the resort gets to have everything you would want in an out of town getaway. It will take you more than a day to fully explore this hodgepodge of different themes and cultures bordering from super awesome to slightly bizaare.Hehe!

The main infinity pool was huge. It had 2 slides, and allowed you a beautiful view while swimming. Water was clean and pretty much the way a public pool should be. Actually pool palang sulit na. :)

Our favorite spots were the Casas de Flores, the Buddha area, the 'Marvel' castle, and Ifugao village.

Casas de Flores is a flower-themed resort complete with flower cottages, flower huts, flower houses, and heavily decorated flower pools! It's super colorful!

And there's also a giant gorilla to welcome guests. We had fun with this!

The Buddha area was really amusing as it was situated near the station of the cross. So Buddha, Jesus and Mary were all in one place.

A few meters away from Buddha, was the La Virginia castle, but we'd rather call it the 'Marvel castle' as life sized models of the Avengers were posed in front of the place as if ready to defend it. There was an attempt to create a Disneyland-feel to the place though it ended up fascinatingly..weird. Heheh!

The Ifugao Village is a collection of native cottages with a legit Ifugao-feel, and lots of spots where you can take snapshots with your friends. We liked the extent of detail  devoted in the huge Ifugao statues and cottages.

No spot was left unutilized. Benches, cottages, statues, were everywhere for those who want to rest or just go cam whoring. It bordered on getting too cluttered though. There were towering statues of giraffes, dolphins, leopards, there was even a live monkey! Hahah!

There's also a zipline and spa for the more adventurous ones. It also has a chapel, a convenience store, a restaurant that serves great tasting and affordable dishes, and function rooms to hold events. Just like SM, it seems they've got it all! :p

Entrance is quite reasonable at Php300 for adults and Php200 for kids. It isn't just a resort, it's a vast theme park complex guaranteed to entertain everyone. It's surprisingly easy to locate, which makes it a really great place for get-togethers. Go give it a try!! :D

  1. Nice! :) I have a question though, did you notice if the area is accessible for PWD? We are looking for a summer getaway that's near the metro but we're very much limited to wheelchair-accessible areas. Thanks Mars! Beautiful and very informative blog by the way :)
