A CULMINATION OF ART AND TALENT: CANON INVITES YOU TO THE NATIONAL LEG OF THE CANON PHOTOMARATHON

*Currently on thesis-mode, and schedule is super hectic so I've had no time to blog at all. Still praying and doing all I can to hit the deadlines, you know how it is. However I came across this event that Canon sent and thought it might be worth sharing. I know there are a lot of photography hobbyists out there you might wanna join! Prizes are pretty cool. Here goes:

In celebrating the discerning eye for art of different Filipinos, Canon Marketing (Philippines), Inc. holds the much-anticipated photo marathon in the country – the Canon PhotoMarathon! The competition is coming this 8th of November, 2014 at the High Street of Bonifacio Global City.

The Canon PhotoMarathon is an on-the-spot photography competition designed to raise the participants’ creative caliber by letting them capture photos that follow a theme under time pressure. Now on its ninth year, they are expecting to fill up the streets of Bonifacio Global City (once again) with photography enthusiasts from different walks of life, all contending to take that winning photograph.

“We are looking forward to unleashing the potential of our participants. Whether hobbyists or professionals, we are highly encouraging more people to join and challenge themselves and realize how far their creativity can take them,” said Bong Serevo, Vice President of Canon Marketing Philippines.

I'm absolutely excited! I've been a BDJ girl for 5 years now and this is the first time that I'll get to attend the BDJ fair! They say it's really cool. :) I guess this will also be my way of support to the wonderful ladies behind BDJ, because their planner has been keeping me sane for how many years now and I'm really thankful! :)

Amazon Freebies for College Students!

I recently signed up for this Amazon affiliate marketing thing. It's basically just posting a product link of your preference on your page and you get a 4% referral rate for every sale. Nothing to lose! And well I think it's cool that I have a link to the purchase of the Game of Thrones collection right at my side bar. :p Yeees people it's about time you read the books so you'd stop getting buggered by people who kept coming up with spoilers. What's amazing about the show though, is that they come up with small deviations from the books and it keeps everyone on their toes. But that's a different story...why should Season 5 take too loooong.

Anyway, while looking around the website, I found out this promo they're having that's quite worth sharing: The Amazon Student offer. With the recent calendar shift, I'm sure a lot of college students are still getting used to going to school, doing research and all. Good news, Amazon's got some freebies for you!

When you sign up for Amazon Student, you get to have these FREE for the first 6 months:
a. Free 2-Day shipping
b. Exclusive deals and promos for students
c. Earn $10 when you refer a friend
d. Unlimited streaming of movies and TV shows  how cool is this??
e. Borrow Kindle books for FREE
f. Access to streaming over MILLION songs and playlists

All you need is a ".edu" email address, one that is provided by your university to make sure that you really are a student (if you don't have any, you can still submit a proof of being a student), and credit card details (because after 6 months you'll have to pay for subscription).

More and more people are now going to Amazon for their online purchases because of it's great credibility and reliable service. It's interesting how they're doing this for students now.

Ang Nawalang Kapatid - A Taste of Our Indian Roots

(Update feb20: Check out this link for our review!)
It's been so long since I last watched a theater play over at UP Diliman. My last play was from Ballet Philippines at the PICC and it was a musical. I realize I missed the magic of theater that movie houses just can't hope to beat. The music, the lights, the production, the set - everything is simply larger than life. You don't just watch from a screen, you feel like you're actually a part of it.

Dulaang UP has always been one of the leading theater guilds, and has been the training ground of many of successful actors and actresses both on-stage and on TV. At the end of it's their 38th season, they present "Ang Nawalang Kapatid". It is a musical based on the Indian epic Mahabharata and is a re-telling of the story of battling Kaurava and Pandava families.

On Garnier, Good Vibes, and my Beloved Gentle Giant :D

I was never the vain type but out of curiosity, I got myself a BDJ box a couple of months ago. It's a "beauty box" from Belle de Jour (yep, the makers of awesome awesome journals :) ) that contains samplers  of products from different brands, which range from facial care, hare care, perfumes and even makeup. All for only 500 pesos a box. Sweet, yes?

One of my favorites would have to be the Garnier products, which included a facial wash and the Light Complete Day Cream. I especially love the moisturizer because it's light, non greasy, and keeps me moisturized. In fact I had two pimples the other week, probably because my skin is adjusting to the new routine of commute-heavy weekdays, but it didn't last long when I consistently used the moisturizer. The pimple marks were quickly gone as well.

Flowers For Love

A woman is like a flower. She is fragile, she is delicate, and she is beautiful. One doesn't need to look very far to appreciate the wonder of her.

gumamela flower

Gumamela's can be found in almost every community.

In spite of it, a woman is strong, she does not yield too easily when she knows she is right. As meek as she is, she knows when to stand her ground. She might be too common and risks being taken for granted, but she will not be belittled because the moment you do you will be in for a surprise.

In spite of typhoons and strong winds, flowers just shed off their petals and continue to live on resiliently

Sun Cellular, The Good Choice in Postpaid

Its amusing to see how technology is affecting the lives of each of us, even changing our definitions of "necessity". Gone are the times when computers, and cellphones were mere expressions of luxury. Nowadays, if you wanted to keep up with the modern pace, you needed to be just a phone call away.

Even cellphone use had its own evolution, do you remember the time when SIM cards cost one thousand effin pesos? hahah. Now they peddle it on streets like peanuts. Calls used to cost us a fortune but now telecom companies are competing to have the best unlimited package in the market.

Papa Ray has been a loyal Sun Cellular postpaid subscriber since 2007, and for the budget conscious, Sun  has been consistent key player in providing affordable quality service. In fact, the Sun offers are really attractive that I was convinced to get a prepaid account. My favorite service is the Sun Powertext where you get Unlimited text, 4 hours of calls, and 500 texts to other networks for only p200 a month. I swear super sulit.

For postpaid users, they provide a wide range of combo's for all types of communication needs, whether you're a hardcore texter, someone who makes lots of calls, or does alot of mobile browsing. The plan 699 is best for the average consumer, while plan 999 is a great deal for those who are looking for unlimited mobile data, added with unlimited texting to Sun subscribers. For each plan, you get to choose the type of usage scheme, either go for unlimited call or text, or go for a fully consumable plan.

PLAN 699
Call & Text Unlimited
  • Unlimited Calls & Texts*
  • P250 Consumable** (except International/Domestic Operator-assisted calls)
  • 350 FREE SMS to other networks
Text Unlimited
  • Unlimited Texts*
  • P450 Consumable** (except International/Domestic Operator-assisted calls)
  • 350 FREE SMS to other networks
Fully Consumable
  • P600 Consumable** (except International/Domestic Operator-assisted calls)
  • 350 FREE SMS to ALL networks
* Local Sun-to-Sun Calls and/or Texts only.
** Consumable may be used for the following:
  • Sun Cellular calls to other networks – including NDD & IDD
  • Sun - to - Sun MMS
  • SMS2Email

PLAN 999
Text Unlimited
Get the following:
  • Unlimited Mobile Internet
  • Unlimited Texts to Sun
  • 4 Hours Calls to Sun

They also offer the free handsets. Not only do they have great talk and text service offers, they also throw in really cool gadgets in the pack. Featured right now are the latest releases from Alcatel, with specsheets matching the high end phones of today.

Most of our relatives in Cebu use Sun Cellular, so we get to make the most out of all the unlimited services. Ray is even able to hold conference calls with relatives, with up to 6 people at a time, for family discussions, and still the call quality is superb. Now that's what you call bang for the buck!

We think it's really cool how telecom companies come up with great deals to outshine each other and the happiest of them all are us consumers. For those who are seeking to have a great postpaid deal, check out Sun Cellular roster of services at www.suncellular.com.ph
